Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL): How to Get Started
The term "Indian-made foreign liquor" (IMFL) is used by Indian governments, businesses, and the media to refer to any hard liquor or alcohol made in India other than indigenous alcoholic beverages like feni, arrack, toddy, and so on. The distilled spirits that are included in the IMFL market category include vodka, gin, whiskey, brandy, rum, and vodka. Start a Business in the Alcohol Industry Regardless of the final product, the many IMFLs all contain a neutral spirit made from molasses which is the first ingredient. This sets them apart from other spirits and alcohol. First, demineralized water is used to reduce the neutral spirit's 96% alcohol by volume to 42.8%, where additional flavors and alcoholic beverages are added. The addition of caramel color to the spirit is optional at this point. The spirit is typically combined with spirits based on malt or grain, such as imported Scotch or Irish whiskey.
